We in Clan MacCool mourn the loss of our leader, musical mentor and dear friend, as Cindy Warner on March 3, 2017 lost her protracted and courageous battle with breast cancer. She was a true model of grit and tenacity as she fought that dread disease with a determination and spirit rarely seen.

Those in Hampton Roads pirate reenactment circles know Cindy as Capt Willoughby Caught. She had a passion for pirate music, culture and history, and it must be known she battled cancer with the ferocity of her seafaring forebears.

Many of us are forever indebted to Cindy for bringing us aboard Clan MacCool or otherwise furthering musical hobbies and interests. We are honored to have performed alongside Cindy, and learned much from her.

God bless and Godspeed, Cindy. The world has lost a great, kind and enormously talented person and an awesome friend. The mandolin and bodhran are stilled, the wonderful singing voice and tin whistle are now silent... and we are poorer for our loss... but you are finally freed from pain and sickness, and revel anew in the next life. May we always draw inspiration from the battle you gave, for cancer did not claim an easy victim... you battled that beast to your final breath.

Fair winds and following seas, dear friend. You fought the good fight and your legacy is bright and strong. Now rest in peace, and in time we'll all meet up to again make music and merriment on the other side.
