Born in Mechanicville, July 18, 1926, son of the late Manual and Ethel Aldrich Medina, Ken was a graduate of Mechanicville High school, and was a star football player with the undefeated Red Raider squad. Soon after high school, he enlisted in the US Navy, serving aboard the USS Goodhue APA-107, which was cited for commendation for operations in the Tokyo Sea in 1945.
A railroad engineer with the Boston and Maine RR Co. in Mechanicville, for 40 years, Cooc also had operated a Sinclair gas station on No. Central Ave., Mechanicville for some years.
A member of the Earl J. Manning Post 490, American Legion, a flying model airplane and golf enthusiast, Cooc years ago took to oil and water color painting, and gave many one of a kind paintings to his family and friends.
He was predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Frances Zagorski Medina who died in 2011, and brothers Clifford and Donald Medina.
Survivors include his daughter, Drinda (Philip) Santandera of Saratoga Lake and son Kenneth (Karen) Medina of Stillwater, along with grandchildren Benjamin and Amanda Medina, a number of nieces, nephews and former railroading friends.
Funeral Service will be held on Friday at 9:30 AM at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 So. Main St., Mechanicville. Burial with military honors at the Saratoga National Cemetery.
