WILSON - Stephen Ray Best, 74, died Tuesday, December 18, 2018.
Funeral, Friday, 2:00 PM, Grace Baptist Church, followed by a time of visiting and sharing.
He had served in the Army National Guard, Wilson Jaycees and the Exchange Club. Deer hunting and watching was important to him as a member of the Red F Hunt Club of Eastern Carolina. A precious word to him was when the grandchildren called him, Poppy.
Surviving is his wife, Betsy Sandifer Best; daughter, Ashley Best of Raleigh; sons, Steve Best (Jessica) of Apex and Chris Best (Sarah) of Mount Pleasant, SC; grandchildren, Hayden, Carter, Savannah, Walter and Harriet Best; sister, Doris Ginn of Goldsboro; brother, J. R. Best of Wilmington; sister-in-law, Jeanie Donohue of Pine Knoll Shore; brothers-in-law, Henry Skinner (Lee) of Wilson and Sam Sandifer of Wilson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Grace Baptist Church, 202 Kincaid Ave, N, Wilson, NC 27893-2350 or to the American Cancer Society, 930-B Wellness Dr, Greenville NC 27834-8040.
