Sara was born on January 7th, 1935 in the family home in Preston Idaho. Sara was the second youngest of five children. Sara enjoyed her childhood very much and shared a lot of love as a close family. She shared many stories of her childhood with her children that were warm and heartfelt.
Sara met her sweetheart Robert at BYU, and they were married in the Salt Lake Temple on September 14th, 1955. In their 62 years of marriage, they lived in Draper, Utah, Oregon, Redding, California, and Kamas, Utah. Sara expressed her innate creative tendencies in many ways. She was a talented artist and loved to paint. She had a creative spirit and was always painting something, which when finished was displayed in the house or given as a gift. Growing flowers was another passion of hers that brightened up her home and brought her much joy. Sara entered many paintings, flowers, and food cooked by her in county fairs where she won numerous awards including 10 Copper Plate Awards. Her award-winning paintings were displayed in the county buildings along with her awards. But nothing brought more happiness to Sara than her family. She was the happiest when surrounded by her children and grandchildren: laughing, talking, and reminiscing about old times.
Sara was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers as well as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She was a true disciple of Christ and lived what she believed. She served in many capacities in the LDS church: Relief Society President, Stake Relief Society Presidency, primary worker, mother’s education teacher, and visiting teaching supervisor. Her example of living a Christ-centered life has touched many people. She was a sweet lady, a good listener, a wonderful mother, a devoted spouse, and a caring grandmother. She will be deeply missed by all that knew her.
