Bob was preceded in death by his brothers A.Wayne, Walker, Benjamin H. Walker, and Gordon R. Walker.

He worked as the manager of the Auto Center and later managed Shaffer's Muffler Shop.

He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Navy as storekeeper aboard the battleship USS Maryland BB-46 through six of the seven major battles in the Pacific Theater, including Tarawa, Kwajalein, Saipan, Palau, Leyte Gulf-Surigao Strait, and Okinawa.
