Jack LaMar Huish, 86, beloved husband and father died peacefully Monday, May 21, 2007, in Orem, Utah.

He was born Sept. 26, 1920, in Douglas, Ariz., to Heber Allen and Edna Haymore Huish. He was the third of nine children.

Jack grew up in Douglas. After graduating from High School he served a three-year Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints mission in Argentina. He served a portion of his time with his brother Billy.

After his mission and during World War II, he joined the Air Force. He flew in the B-24 Liberator as the top gunner.

After the war, Jack attended BYU for a year, then returned to Douglas to work with his family in their commercial laundry and dry-cleaning business.

Jack happily married Karma Andersen on Sept. 15, 1948, in the Mesa, Ariz., Temple. They have been eternal sweethearts for more than 58 years.

They lived in Douglas for most of their first 13 years, then moved to Sierra Vista, Ariz., where Jack was the owner of Rudy's Laundry and Dry Cleaners. They moved to Orem in the fall of 2005.

Jack felt the importance of serving the Lord and had many callings throughout his life. He was proud to be an Eagle Scout. He felt privileged to be an ordinance worker in the Mesa Temple with Karma for four years.

A few of Jack's joys in life were hunting with his sons, deep sea fishing in Mexico, family jaunts to Nogales, visiting and speaking Spanish and drinking maté with his missionary chés.

His greatest joy was his family. Together Jack and Karma raised seven children: Craig (Elaine), Gary (Pat), Jack LaMar Jr. (Karen), Paul, Kathleen Zahn (Rich), Scott (Shanon) and Jocelyn Griffin (Rich).

Jack is survived by his loving wife Karma; children; 30 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; his sister, Peggy Andersen (Dwayne); and brothers, Edward, Jamie, Seaman and Stephen.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Genevieve Meierstein; brothers, Billy and Ted; daughter-in-law Annette; and grandson Jon.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 29, 2007, at the Aspen 5th Ward Chapel, 800 W. 1600 North, Orem, Utah. Viewing will be Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary at 495 S. State St., Orem, Utah, or at the Chapel from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Tuesday prior to the services. Interment will be in the Orem City Cemetery.
