Ash, Henry Henry Ash, loving father and grandfather, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 19, 2011. Dr. Henry Ash was born on October 12, 1922 in Birmingham, AL to Benjamin H. and Mollie Amster Ash. He attended Highland Park High School. He was a graduate of Texas Agricultural and Mechanical College, class of 1944, where he received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. He was enlisted in the Army and served in the Merchant Marines during WWII. As a pilot, Henry flew Patricia Baron, his soon to be wife, on an airplane for their first date. They were married in June of 1950, for 56 years until her death in 2007. Henry was the president of the Dallas Veterinary Medical Society in 1956. He practiced greater than 50 years at the Inwood Animal Hospital, and he was the oldest and longest practicing veterinarian in Dallas at the time of his retirement. Henry was a devoted husband and father who placed his family's interest ahead of his own. He was an avid golfer, and a faithful Aggie, and enjoyed boating and fishing. Henry brought such joy to all who know him. He was a sweet and loving man who had a joyful spirit and always wore a smile. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Cecile Nanette, and wife, Patricia Baron Ash. Survivors: Loving son, Dr. Steven P. Ash and wife Maureen; loving grandchildren, Lauren Elizabeth, David Benjamin and Adam George, to whom he was known as Gramps; Sister-in law Sandra Baron Weiner and brother-in law Arnold Baron; and Cousin Phyllis Izen of Birmingham, AL. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, expression of sympathy may be sent to the North Central Texas Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association in Henry's name. The family would like to thank the staff at Signature Pointe on the Lake, Freedom Hospice, Paradigm Home Health and caregivers, Tameka Harrell and Veronica Antwine. A celebration of Henry's life will take place in the Lefkowitz Chapel at Temple Emanu-El, 8500 Hillcrest Ave., Dallas, on Sunday February 27 at 1 p.m.
