Perle Clinton Goodwin, 87, originally from Forkston, passed away on Friday, Dec. 14, 2018, at the Wyalusing Valley Personal Care Home.

Perle and his identical twin brother, Paul, were born on June 29, 1931, the sons of late Earl and Olive Lewis Goodwin on their family farm in Mehoopany Township.

Perle graduated from Mehoopany High School in the Class of 1949 and in 1955, he married the former Edith Sick. They raised their two children, Daniel and Janice on the family dairy farm, which was owned and operated with Perle's twin brother Paul.

In addition to dairy farming, Perle enjoyed hunting, trapping, antique collecting, and playing his violin in square dance bands and other pick-up bands with his brother Paul and various other band members. Through the years, Perle was an active member of several organizations. In 2018, he received recognition for 60 years of continuous membership with the Forkston Grange. He was a long-time member and former trustee of the Forkston United Methodist Church and caretaker with the Forkston Cemetery Association. He was a member of the Nicholson Lodge No. 458 Free and Accepted Masons, he received special recognition for 50 years of membership. Perle had also served as a Forkston Township supervisor and a local justice of the peace.

Perle is survived by his son Daniel (Cindy Newhart) Goodwin of Wilmot Township; his daughter Janice (James) Copp of Wilmot Township; his son Eric Goodwin of Boston, Mass.; grandson Shay (Kristin Tiffany) Goodwin; and great-granddaughter Grace of Wyalusing; granddaughter Chantel (Patrick) Newell; great-granddaughter Elaina; and great-grandson Izaiah of Homets Ferry; granddaughter Keon Copp of Wilmot Township; grandson William (Taylor Carey) Copp of Tunkhannock; and brother Paul Goodwin of Mehoopany.

Besides his parents, Perle was preceded in death by his brothers: Harold and Bernard; and his sister Julia.

A memorial service for Perle will be held on Saturday, Jan. 12, 2019, at 11 a.m. at the Forkston United Methodist Church with Pastor Joshua Yorks of the church officiating. Greetings for family and friends will begin at 10 a.m. A private burial will be held at the Forkston Cemetery for the immediate family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Perle's name to the Forkston Cemetery Association, c/o Paulette Conrad, 271 Main St., Forkston Township, PA 18629.
