Josephine "Jo" Robuck, 85, a retired Dallas schoolteacher, died Thursday of kidney failure at Methodist Medical Center in Dallas.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Tyler Street United Methodist Church in Dallas.
Mrs. Robuck taught in the Dallas Independent School District for 15 years in the 1950s and '60s before health problems forced her to retire, said her husband, John Benton of Dallas.
She received a bachelor's degree in education from the University of Texas at Austin and a master's in education from Southern Methodist University.
Mrs. Robuck spent her career teaching first grade, although she originally intended to teach high school. After substitute-teaching high school students for a year, she decided she enjoyed educating the younger children more, her husband said.
She started teaching in 1953 at T.L. Marsalis Elementary School and stayed for 12 years. She taught one year at John W. Carpenter Elementary and two years at Benito Juarez Elementary before retiring.
Other survivors include two children, Eva Womack of Washington, D.C., and Joel Robuck of Dallas; and four grandchildren.
