Maida E. Grisham, born July 3, 1920, at the age of 98, passed from this life to her Heavenly Home Monday, December 10, 2018 at 10:20 p.m. She had a long, beautiful life with many blessings and lots of great memories. The past year she lived at Carrington House where she has enjoyed many new friendships.

Maida Graduated from Iuka High School and continued her education at Blue Mountain and Freed Hardeman Colleges, receiving an associate degree. Her business career has spanned many different working situations. She taught school at the old Central School and at Hubbard Salem. She relocated to Memphis and worked at Greyhound Bus Company for several years before returning to Iuka to be employed at the Iuka Courthouse in the Office of the Superintendent of Education. She spent six years working with Hiwassee Land Company in Iuka. The vast majority of her working years were spent at Iuka Guaranty Bank from which she retired after 23 ½ years.

Maida loved her church. She was an active memory of Harmony United Methodist Church where she served as treasurer for 17 years and was also the MYF leader and Sunday School teacher.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Marshall and Ivy Dean Grisham; her brother and his wife, Ledgie and Katie Mae Grisham; her sister and her husband, Joyce and Clifford Peterson; a niece, Rita Peterson; and a nephew in law, Dean Pearce.

She is survived by her niece, Ann Saucier and husband, Ken; her niece, Jennie Pearce; her nephew, Gary Peterson and wife, Shirley; her great nieces and nephews, Lyn Kohler, Chris Saucier, Stan Pearce, pam DeGroot, Sean Peterson, and Eric Peterson; four great, great nieces and four great, great nephews, along with many other family members and friends. Her special caregivers were Lola Robinson, Sara Hayes, Ilene South, and all the employees at the Carrington House and Legacy Hospice personnel.

Visitation is Thursday, December 13, from 1:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. and the funeral is at 3:00 p.m., all at Harmony UMC.
