Funeral service for Leon Finley, Sr., age 80, of Frederick, Oklahoma will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 7, 2018, at the First Baptist Missionary Church with Rev. Lloyd Logan officiating. Burial will follow in the Frederick Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home of Frederick. Mr. Finley passed away Friday, November 30, 2018 at his home.
Leon Finley, Sr. was born August 29, 1938, in Fillmore, Oklahoma to Simon and Lillie Mae (Colbert) Finley. He attended school at Boyd High in Frederick. On July 16, 1956, he and Lila Jean Kennard were united in marriage at Frederick, Oklahoma. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Missionary Church where he served as deacon. Leon enjoyed drawing and painting and had painted several murals for local churches in the area. He was an avid fisherman; and was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lila Jean Finley of the home; his children, Barbara Ann Richardson and her husband Tony of Hampton, Virginia, Leon Finley, Jr. and his wife Brenda of Hagerstown, Maryland, and Deborah Ann Pugh of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; one brother, Ernest Finley of Lawton, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren, Julian Levene, Atari Finley, Leon Finley, III, Brendon Finley, Tameeka Leon, Michael Bowie, Desmon Jamalla Bowie and Isaiah Pugh; eight great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and eight siblings, Luthie James Finley, Sr., Quince Zel Finley, Sr., Robert Finley, Willie Lee Finley, Kadie Finley, Mabel Roberts, Nina Ruby Mosley and Odessa Kemp.
