Gerald Allen Gardner, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on Saturday, December 1, 2018.

Gerald was born in Murray on December 29, 1944 to Ross V. Gardner and Dora (Butterfield) and lovingly raised by his step-father, Lester C. Breeze. Gerald graduated from Granite High School and was sealed to his sweetheart, Jacquelyn D. Schmidt, in the Salt Lake Temple on April 21, 1967.

Gerald had a love of all things beautiful, spending countless hours working in his yard creating gardens that were admired by many. He served friends and family in need, freely sharing his talents. Above all, Gerald was a dedicated husband and father, raising his eight children with his loving wife, Jackie, instilling in each of his children the importance of service, hard work, faithfulness, and compassion through his example.

Gerald was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities over his lifetime. He served in the Southern Australian Mission and later served a mission with Jackie in the Washington D.C. Temple. Upon completion of their mission, he continued to serve as a sealer in the Oquirrh Mountain Temple.

Gerald’s legacy will live on through his wife, eight children, twenty-two grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Gerald is survived by his loving wife, Jackie; children, Jill M. Best (Alan), Matthew T. Gardner (DeeDee), Paul A. Gardner (JaNae), Jared B. Gardner (Melissa), Alisha A. Dye (Wayne), Simon L. Gardner (Kristin), Megan A. Brown (Josh), and Brett A. Gardner; and sisters, Shirley Cromar, Ann McPhie, and Janice Hoppe. Gerald was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Leon Gardner and Randy Breeze.

The family of Gerald Gardner wishes to thank the physicians and nurses of Jordan Valley Medical Center for their skilled and compassionate care of our husband and father.
