Jack Swift McCook, Sr., 80, of Greensboro, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 18 at his home.

Jack was born in Columbia, LA, on May 28, 1925, to Rhes and Anniebel Swift McCook. He was raised in Monroe, LA, and attended Louisiana State University. He served as a submariner in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Crevalle during World War II.

In 1950, he married Mary Jean Hollis, to whom he remained a loving husband for 55 years. Jack was an active member of St. Pius X Catholic Church and a volunteer for Mobile Meals and Senior Wheels and retired as Vice-President of Sales for Chemol Inc. in Greensboro in 1991.

He was an avid tennis player and loved to watch his grandsons play whichever sport was in season. He enjoyed trips to the beach and spending time with his family. Jack truly loved people and that love was sincerely returned.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Jean; two daughters, Rhoda Groce and her husband Bill, of Asheville and Meg Boyles and her husband Buddy, of Greensboro; son, Jack McCook, Jr., of Greensboro and grandsons Scott and Trey Groce, of Asheville, Daniel Boyles, of Athens, GA and Carson and Hayden Boyles, of Greensboro.

A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, November 22 at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Greensboro.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 PM on Monday at Forbis and Dick Funeral Service on North Elm Street and again following the funeral service at the church.
