Mrs Cora R. Briggs, 87, 2005 Lincoln, died Thursday at a Topeka hospital after an extended illness. She was born Oct. 7, 1893, at Scranton, the daughter of George and Suzanne Willows, and moved to Topeka in 1942. She worked at Washburn University and Harrison Pharmacy before she retired in 1971. She married Ray Briggs Sept. 12, 1912, at Topeka. He survives. A daughter, Mrs. Ellen Wingert, died in 1977. Other survivors include two sons, Raymond G. Briggs, Burlingame and Arlo R. Briggs, 2607 Buchanan; a step-brother, Thomas Willows, Scranton; two stepsisters, Mrs. Olive Woods, Scranton and Mrs Leona Vickery, Aurora, Colo.; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Newcomer-Diffenderfer Funeral Home. Burial will be in Scranton Cemetery.
