When Rebecca's husband Robert was 19 years old he enlisted as a volunteer soldier under Capt. James A. Word to aide in the transferring of Cherokee from GA to the west, returning on the 30th of June to New Echota for mustering out & payment.
While living in GA, Rebecca's husband worked for Moses H. Denman as overseer for his plantation at 442nd Bates Mill district. And when the Denman's moved to Texas, Robert, Rebecca & kids moved with them to Cherokee county & Robert held the same job as overseer for the new plantation on Killough creek.
Later, Rebecca & Robert's daughter Laura Ann McMinn became Moses Denman's 3'd wife and they had 10 kids.
