Louise J. Koontz, 93, Ursina, passed away Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at home. She was born February 20, 1925 in Ursina, a daughter of Harry C. and Madalyn (Geyer) Koontz. Her parents and a brother, Harry J. Koontz preceded her in death. She is survived by her sister, Nancy, Ursina, sister-in-law, Sandra, Lexington, Ohio, nephew, Harry J. Koontz, Jr. and wife, Jackie, Clinton, Mississippi and niece, Gretchen Bobst and husband, Scott, Mansfield, Ohio. Louise was a member of the Confluence United Methodist Church and UMW, United Community Church of God W.C.S.C., Kingwood Grange, Great Crossings Chapter D.A.R., Christian Missionary Alliance WDS and the New Centerville Vol. Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary. She was longtime member of the former Confluence Women’s’ Civic Club and a former school board director of Turkeyfoot Valley Area School District. She volunteered with the American Heart Assoc. and the American Cancer Society’s Daffodil Project. Following graduation from Confluence High School in 1943, she worked at several local businesses including J.C. Penney in Somerset and Acme Markets in Confluence. She took business courses while an employee of First National Bank of Confluence and retired from National Bank of Western Pa. After retirement she worked for awhile in the billing office at Somerset Hospital. She enjoyed traveling and family and friends. Friends will be received from 6-8 PM Friday and 2-4 and 6-8 PM Saturday at the Humbert Funeral Home in Confluence, where a service will be held at 1 PM Sunday with Pastor Valerie Stark officiating. Interment will follow in Addison Cemetery. There will be viewing from 11 AM till 1 PM Sunday as well. The Great Crossings Chapter D.A.R. will hold a service of remembrance at 7 PM Friday followed by the New Centerville Fire Ladies Auxiliary at 7:30 PM. Both services will be at the funeral home.
