Johnnye Louise Helms, 95, of Iowa Park, passed away on Wednesday, December 5, 2018. Louise was born in a tent in Smackover, Arkansas on February 25, 1923. She was the eighth of ten children to Emmett and Parilea Shook. She was preceded in death by her parents and eight siblings. Louise graduated from Iowa Park High School in 1940 and Draughns Business College. She and Joseph Charlie Helms were married in Vera, TX on October 14, 1940. They were married 59 years until his death. Louise worked as a bookkeeper and secretary until she retired in 1986. Louise was a member of First Baptist Church in Iowa Park where she was active in her Sunday School Class and formerly taught Sunday School. She played bridge and loved her bridge friends. She is survived by two daughters, Linda Wynn of Iowa Park and Karen (Mrs. Glenn) Chitwood of Burkburnett; eight grandchildren, Kristi Rankin, Sean Pendleton, Kami Mauldin, Michele Kirkland, Glenn Chitwood, Jr., Wayne Chitwood, Curtis Chitwood and Terri McCalib; fifteen great-grandchildren; one brother, Ray Shook and his wife Marry Ann of Irving, TX. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Monday, December 10, 2018 at the First Baptist Church in Iowa Park with Glenn Pearce officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 – 11:00 AM prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow the service at Highland Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Sheridan Medical Lodge Burkburnett TX or Hospice of Wichita Falls.
