He was born March 13, 1937 in Oblong, IL to his parents George Russell and Velma (Littlejohn) Russell. On December 19, 1992 he married Violetta Russell, who survives.
Billie previously worked as a barber, and most recently worked for Trunkline Gas Company until his retirement. He enjoyed restoring old tractors and woodworking. He also enjoyed working with the Illinois Baptist Disaster Relief, Salem South Association.
He is survived by his wife Violetta Russell of Bluford, IL; 2 daughters: Carla (husband Kelly) McKinney of Wayne City, IL and Melinda Strain of Big Sandy, TN; 2 step-daughters: Kimberly (husband Tony) Fowler of Ohio and Cheryl Hardin of Ohio, a step-son Kevin (wife Lisa) Pendleton of Ohio, a sister Thelma (husband Ray) Baker of Oblong, IL; 2 granddaughters: Kadie (husband Stephen) Winesburgh of Wayne City, and Jessica (husband Devin) Worrall of Big Sandy, TN; 6 step-grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by both parents, a daughter Stephanie Russell, a sister Emma Mae Russell, and his first wife Carol Russell.
Visitation will be held from 5 – 8 pm on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at the Young Funeral Home in Wayne City, IL.
Funeral services will be at 10 am on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at the Young Funeral Home with Pastor Jerry Montgomery officiating.
