John Paul Smith of Holbrook and Marshfield, passed away unexpectedly, on November 21, 2018, at the age of 70. Beloved husband of Susan (Principato) Smith and loving father of Mathew and his wife Grace (Deveney) Smith of Scituate. Dear son of the late George and Anne (Clark) Smith. Born in Brockton, Paul was raised and educated in Holbrook. Paul proudly served in the United States Army, serving at Fort Bragg, North Carolina and USAAC, St. Louis, Missouri. He received two associate degrees, one in Business Adminstration and the second in Art. He was a talented cook, who owned his own catering company. Paul loved to listen to music and was an avid reader. Paul was an enthusiastic fan of all Boston sport teams. He enjoyed hiking and taking long walks on the beach and in the Holbrook Town Forest, often accompanied by the family dogs. Paul found great joy and peace with his family and friends at Rexhame Beach. Paul will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to have known him. Paul was also the devoted brother of Jeanne Smith of Bridgewater, Gregory Smith of Flagstaff, AZ, and Virginia and her husband Robert Hunter of Raynham. Devoted son-in-law of Nadine Principato of Abington and the late Charles Principato. Cherished brother-in-law of Debra and husband Kenneth Mellace of Abington, Patricia Donovan of Bridgewater, and Angelo Principato of Abington. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Paul was a caring and loyal friend and neighbor. A Memorial Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, December 3rd, at 10:00 AM in St. Joseph Church, 153 South Franklin Street, Holbrook. Burial in Knollwood Memorial Park, 321 High Street, Canton, MA 02021. Memorial contributions may be made in Paul’s name to the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, attn: Rheumatology and Lupus Center, Office of Development, 330 Brookline Avenue, Boston, MA 02215 or the American Heart Association, P.O.
