Fannie Myers Barr died on Wednesday, November 21st in Jamaica, NY. Fannie was born on February 22, 1939 in Effingham, SC to George and Resola Frierson Myers. She was educated in the public schools of Florence County, and was a 1957 graduate of Wilson High School. After her graduation from the College of New Rochelle and Adelphi University, Fannie began her career as an elementary school teacher within the City of New York public school system at the Walter Weaver School/P.S. 398 in Brooklyn, New York. After her retirement in 2004, she continued to teach students as a substitute teacher within the City of New York public school system for several years.She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Jamaica, NY, where she actively served in several capacities. She was later baptized at Savannah Grove Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister.
