Dorothy Cook, age 91, formerly of Knoxville, Iowa, passed away on Friday, November 23, in Indianola, Iowa.
Dorothy Jean Coulter was born on April 26, 1927 in Omaha, Nebraska. The only child of Everett and Gail Coulter, she graduated from Omaha Central High School. She then attended the University of Nebraska, where she met her future husband, Tom Cook. The couple lived in Nebraska before moving to Knoxville in 1962. Dorothy was an avid reader, a lover of animals, and enjoyed playing bridge, cards, and board games of all types. She didn't lose often. She was very proud of her family and her Nebraska roots. She loved good conversation, a good story, and social gatherings of all sorts with family and friends.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Gail Coulter, and her husband Tom. She is survived by her seven children and their families: Tom (Jill) Cook of Helena Montana; Barb (Larry) Bybee of Pleasantville; Cynthia Witt of Ankeny; Carol Wilson of Indianola; Cathy (Clark) Tedford of Poulsbo, Washington; Kevin (Danna) Cook of Bloomfield; and Doug (Terri) Cook of Jewell; fifteen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren.

Per Dorothy's request, there will be no Funeral Services. Friends are invited to celebrate Dorothy's life with the family from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 1, at the First Presbyterian Church in Knoxville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Knoxville Public Library.
