Private family inurnment rites will be held in Mountain View Memorial Gardens in Forest Grove for William Harrison Bittinger, who died March 29, 1996, at age 74. A celebration of life will be at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, April 6, in the Rainbow Lanes Bowling Center in Forest Grove.
Mr. Bittinger was born April 22, 1921, in Mechanicsburg, Pa. He attended Carlisle High School. In 1941 he married Nellie Gottshall, and they lived in Pennsylvania until 1960, when they moved to Boise. They moved to Forest Grove in 1979.
He was a heavy-equipment operator. He worked for Quinn Brothers and Robbins Construction Co. in Idaho and for Baker Rock Paving in Forest Grove until 1981, when he began working for Washington County. He retired in 1984. He later worked part time for Rainbow Lanes.
Surviving are his wife; sons, Darryl W. of Boise and Dan A. of Wilsonville; daughter, Vicki L. Schroeder of Boise; brother, Donald P. of Matone, Calif.; sister, Vivian Keller of Chambersburg, Pa.; and six grandchildren.
The family suggests remembrances to the American Heart Association, Oregon affiliate, or the American Cancer Society, Washington County unit. Arrangements are by Fuiten-Rose Chapel in Forest Grove.
