Rita Ballard, 83, of Wichita Falls passed away on Sunday, November 25, 2018.

Graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at Burkburnett Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Owens and Brumley Funeral Home of Wichita Falls.

Rita was born on March 30, 1935 to the late Ellis and Mary Bessie (Rackley) Milam in Rocky Point, Texas. Her family moved to Wichita Falls, where she graduated from Wichita Falls High School. Rita met Johnny Ballard and the couple married and spend several years together, before his passing in March 2008. She enjoyed bowling with her husband on a league. She worked for 20 years at Notre Dame Elementary with the after school program until retiring in 2010. Rita was a member of Faith Baptist Church, where she enjoyed singing in the choir and attending Sunday school. Rita enjoyed working puzzles, watching Wheel of Fortune and was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers. She loved her family and being “MeMaw” to all her grandchildren. Family and friends will miss her deeply.

Rita is survived by her children: LaDonna Willis, Randy Henderson and wife, Natalie, Cody Ballard Epperson and John Ballard; Eight grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; a sister, Quitta Persing; and her beloved dog, Gypsy.

Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers; and two sisters.
