Bevan—
William A. Bevan, 75, died at his home at Hamlin, Kans., early Tuesday morning, Aug. 9, 1949 following an illness of several days. He is survived by his wife of the home, one daughter, Mrs. Ruby Sauer, of Hamlin, one son, Ervin "Bevo" Bevan, of Hiawatha, one brother, R. D. Bevan, one sister, Mrs. Annie Houston, both of Lost Springs, Kans., four grandchildren.
    Funeral services will be held from Meek's chapel at 2 o'clock Thursday, Aug. 11, with Rev. Chas. Henry officiating. Interment at the Hamlin cemetery.

Bevan—
William Allen Bevan, youngest son of John, Clara Bevan, was born at Proctorsville, O., July 9, 1874. At the age of 18, he came to Kansas, located in the Hamlin community where he resided until his death, which occurred Aug. 9, 1949, at the family home in Hamlin. June 10, 1897, he was married to Edith A Blanchard. Four children were born to this union. Two, Mrs. Mildred McKinney, Russell Bevan, are deceased, two, Ervin F. of Hiawatha, Mrs. Ruby Sauer of Hamlin, survive. Surviving also are four grandchildren, Robert, James Bevan of Hiawatha, John, Jimmy Sauer of Hamlin, a brother, sister, R. D. Bevan, Mrs. Anna Huston both of Lost Springs, Kans.
    When a young man, he became a member of the Brethren church of Hamlin, continued in that fellowship until the time of his death. Mr. Bevan did not aspire to prominence in social, political or civic circles, but was content to be a part of that sturdy, reliable background which is after all, the strength of our American way of life. He was particularly devoted to his family, gave himself unremittingly to their happiness, well being. He was a good neighbor, very highly respected in his community.
    Funeral services were conducted from Meek's chapel Thursday afternoon, Aug. 11, 1949, with Rev. Charles E. Henry officiating. Interment was at the Hamlin cemetery.
