She was born February 14, 1946 in Tulsa, Oklahoma the daughter of Alfred Charles Bailey and Ellen Katherine (Teehee) Bass. She was united in marriage to Dennis E. Riggle, Sr. and later Ralph Reed. They both preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were her parents, two brothers, and a grandson, John Riggle.
Surviving are two sons, Dennis E. Riggle Jr. (Kathleen) of Redondo Beach, California and Bob Riggle (CeCe) of Rogers, Arkansas; three daughters, Barbara Leggitt (Lon) of Springdale, Arkansas, Carol Oldridge (Bill) of Sherwood, Arkansas and Kathy Riggle of Fayetteville, Arkansas; eleven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Carolyn grew up in Tahlequah, OK and Miriam, Kansas. Throughout her adult life she resided in California, Hawaii, Kansas, Missouri and Arkansas. She loved living on the family farm in southwest Missouri purchased by her grandparents and lived there until moving to Fayetteville, AR. She was raised in the Church of Christ and was a member for many years.
Carolyn worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse and Registered Nurse for more than 40 years in the specialty of geriatric nursing. She was blessed with the gift of compassion in working with this patient population. She worked for Heritage Park Nursing Home in Rogers, Arkansas for many years and Red Rose Inn in Cassville, Missouri before retiring from her nursing career.
She was best known for her dry sense of humor and mostly her sarcasm. Her children loved making her laugh and laughing with her. Her last days were filled surrounded by her children and grandchildren telling stories, making her smile, pestering her until she would give “the look”, and mostly just laughing out loud.
Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, December 1, 2018 at Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville, Missouri. Ken West will conduct the services. Burial will be at Dent Cemetery west of Seligman.
