Dorinda Jane Howes was born May 8, 1951 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma to Bessie Juanita (Pruitt) Holland and James Manuel Holland. She passed away November 22, 2018 at Elk City, Oklahoma at the age of 67 years, 6 months and 14 days.

Jane grew up in Tahlequah where she graduated in 1968. She furthered her education at Northeastern State University where she received her BS in education and later received her Masters from Southwestern Oklahoma State University. Jane taught high school math in Vinita, Red Rock, Butler and Merritt before retiring in 2003. After her retirement she was a substitute teacher for one year and had served as the Town Clerk in Foss, Oklahoma for 8 years until ill health forced her second retirement.

Jane was a member of the Washita County Home Demonstration Willing Workers Club.

She is preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Lorinda Kelly, and 1 brother, Alfred "Hooter" Holland.

She is survived by 2, daughters, Victoria Howes and Paula Howes, both of Foss, Oklahoma, 1 granddaughter, Danica Kirkham, Springfield, MO, 1 sister, Vera Myers and husband, Jerry, Miami, OK, 1 brother, Manuel Holland and wife Jimmy, Tahlequah, OK.

Services are under the direction of Whinery Funeral Services, Elk City, OK.
