Theodore Therl "Bubbie" Christian

U.S. VeteranTheodore Therl "Bubbie" Christian, 80, departed this life on October 24, 2018. His life began on December 25, 1937, the son of the late Theodore and Elvoy Christian.

He retired from the United States Marine Corps after proudly serving his country for more than twenty years. During his military career, he received many awards and commendations for outstanding and distinguished service. He was a long time member of the Disable American Veterans Chapter 2 and a member of the American Legion Post 31.

At an early age, he was baptized and joined Colossian Baptist Church, where he continued to be a member for many years. During his conversations with his sisters he thanked GOD for his mansion. He may have lost the fight but he won the battle.

Theodore was preceded in death by his sisters, Barbara Banks, Nan Toliver, Alene Smith and Doris Christian, brothers, Eugene and Cecil "Skippy" Christian. He leaves to cherish his blessed memories, his beloved wife, Myrtle O. Christian; stepson, Michael Jones (Lena), of Newport News, VA; grandsons, Rasheem Jones (Julie), of Inver Grove Heights, MN, Jameel Jones and Malik Jones, both of Newport News, VA; sisters, Anne Christian, of Newport News, VA, Elvoy "Cissy" Lindsey, of Hampton, VA, Elinor Rowe, of Hampton, VA and Edee Cheseman (Robert), of Williamsburg, VA; supportive niece, Cheryl Watson, of Hope Mills, NC; automotive specialist nephew, Kerry Christian, of Hampton, VA; best friend, Wesley Dixon, of Newport News, VA; and a host of other loving relatives and many caring friends.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2018, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon, in Whiting's Chapel. Full military honors to commence at 12:00 noon.

The Virginia Birth Records state that he was born in Warwick; it is now an extinct city and was consolidated into Newport News.
