Daniel J. Bachofer Jr., 96, of Salina, passed away Friday, Nov. 23, 2018. He was born Feb. 26, 1922, in Salina to Daniel J. Bachofer Sr. and Margaret (Burghart) Bachofer. He married Elizabeth "Betty" Hoeffner on Feb. 7, 1948. Left to mourn his passing are his wife of over 70 years, Betty, of the home; children, Carol Brent, of Salina, Rose Marie Novack (Richard), of Arvada, Colo., Terry Dobson (Randy), of Cobbs Creek, Va., Danise Glavin (Curtis), of Collinsville, Okla., Mike Bachofer (Jennifer), of Salina, and Mary Lu Triplitt (Dale), of Salina; 10 grandchildren; 1 stepgrandchild; 18 great-grandchildren; brothers, Bob Bachofer, of Salina, and Francis Bachofer, of Sacramento, Calif.; and sister, Catherine Sweeney, of Overland Park. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister,a Ruth Wight; and son-in-law, Dean Brent. Dan graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1939. He served 39 months in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. He worked for Midwest Plumbing for 22 years. Dan helped organize an apprenticeship school for Plumbers Local #249. He then opened his own business, Dan J. Bachofer Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning in 1962, and retired in 1986. He was a member of VFW Post #1432, DAV and St. Mary Queen of the Universe Catholic Church.
