Ernest A. Whitener, 89, of Leesburg, Florida was born September 6, 1925 in Bowling Green, Florida and passed away September 14, 2014. He was a veteran of the US Air Force and then worked for Frito-Lay for 20 plus years and later Lynx for 10 years. He retired in 1990 and moved to Leesburg from Orlando in 1992. He became a very active member of First Baptist Church in Leesburg, serving in many of their ministries. Mr. Whitener is survived by four sons: William D. Sharp of San Juan Capistrano, CA, James D. Sharp of Trinity, FL, Ernest Wayne Whitener of Sunrise, FL and Mark A. Whitener of Lake Mary, FL; 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He also had numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Ruby in 2009. A visitation was held at Beyers Funeral Home Chapel in Leesburg on Wednesday September 17, 2014. Interment followed at Highland Memorial Gardens, Apopka.
