Mr. Abbott was born In LaGrange, GA, April 11, 1942. After graduating high school, he moved to Smyrna, GA to pursue a career in the automobile industry. He began as Parts Manager and eventually became Service Manager and ended his career as Direction of Fixed Operations. He was employed for over 40 years by Kelly Chrysler-Plymouth and Ed Voyles dealerships in Marietta, GA.
Previously, he was married to Miriam Wright Abbott for 17 years and they had four children. He then married Jerri Kuglar Abbott for nine years and they had one daughter.
After the death of his first daughter, he devoted years racing his car, the “Sherry Renae,” with a determined spirit to eliminate the terrible disease of Leukemia. All funds from his winnings were donated to the Leukemia Society.
He was an avid golfer and enjoyed many days on the golf course. He also enjoyed trips to casinos where he could relax and forget about all the problems of the world. After his retirement, he enjoyed watching sports on TV and never passed up an opportunity to spend time with his family.
Funeral Services were held at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home in Marietta with the Reverend Ebb Fox officiating. Interment was at Mountain View Cemetery, 410 Whitlock Ave, Marietta, GA.
