Edwin Joseph Wielgus passed away on Thursday, May 17, 2007 at age 90. EJ, as he was lovingly known, was born in Silver Creek, NE on September 6, 1916 and was a longtime resident of Tacoma. He was a member of the Tacoma Elks Lodge #174, Tacoma Eagles Aerie #3, the VFW and the Manhattan Dance Club. He was proud to serve in the U.S. Army during World War II. After his military service he went to work for the United States Postal Service until he retired in 1974. He is survived by his loving son Michael Wielgus of OceanSide, CA, brother Paul Raymond Wielgus of NE (Beverly), Mary Bullis (Kelso), Emaline Engel of NE (Arnold), and his dear companion Kay Birnel of Tacoma. EJ was a gentle, good-natured man and will be sorely missed. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 23, 2007 from 1-8pm at New Tacoma Cemetery and Funeral Home. Services will be held on Thursday, May 24, 2007 at 2:00pm in the Evergreen Chapel at New Tacoma Cemetery.
