aymond Shrum passed from this world the evening of November 2, 2018. Raymond was born on September 6, 1934 in San Angelo, TX to his parents Bill and Dura Shrum, who proceed him in death.

Most of his childhood was spent in San Angelo, with a few years in High School at Eden where he played football, and met Shirley.

He was man who enjoyed working with his hands, he worked for GTE for his whole working career, and retired after they became Verizon. Later in his retirement he went back to work driving a school bus in Grape Creek and Watervalley- he loved being around the kids.

Our lives are our stories, and your Raymond's story will continue in the ones he loved that he loved. He was a very proud father to his eldest son Gary Shrum, and his beloved daughter Cindy Copeland. He remained lifelong friends with his ex-wife Shirley Culp. He will also leave behind many other members of his family: Daughter-in-law Rhonda Shrum, wife of his son Gary, and their children, grandson Chris Shrum, his wife Lauren, and their children Henry, Emerson, Bailey, Leighton, granddaughter Ashley Cardoza, her husband James Cardoza, and their children Aspen, Liam, and Brentley, granddaughter Lisa Thomas, her husband Ben Thomas, and their children Haley, and Logan. Son-in-law, Cindy's husband Craig Copeland, and their children Ryan, and Chad. Raymond also considered an adopted member of the family, Steven Daniels to be part of his family.

Beyond his family Raymond, or Papaw, was a man of the land. He was very active in Scouts and camping during his life. Later in life he purchased a piece of land in Grape Creek, where he patrolled the grounds on his golf cart, fed the deer, and spent time with the dogs he loved Freckles, and Rip.

Many a person hunted on his land, or brought out something to be fixed. Working with his hands and helping out his friends was in his blood, he was a loyal and giving beyond what most could expect to receive; many were lucky to call him a friend. Family, and friends will miss him dearly, and remember him in our lives- may we all be as loyal and giving to his measure.

Those who want to show their respects can be at the Cross Point Fellowship Church, 4420 Coliseum Drive at 11am, Monday, November 5, 2018.

Services are under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home.
