JoAnn McCarty – age 86 of Knoxville went to her Heavenly home on Thursday, November 15, 2018. Member of Meridian Baptist Church for over 50 years where she taught the Winsome Sunday School Class for many years. JoAnn worked previously for Miller’s Department Store and the University of TN. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who deeply cherished all of her family.
Preceded in death by husband of 63 years, Clinton O. McCarty; parents, Hubert L. and Anna Mae Mays; brothers, H.L. Mays, Jr. and Gary A. Mays; and sister-in-law, Patsy Mays.
Survived by son, Steve McCarty and wife Jan; daughter, Debbie White and husband Doug; grandchildren, Christy (David) Barton, J.D. (Colleen) White, Clint (Dustye) McCarty; step-grandchildren, Tim White, Danny White, Tony White, and Angelia Dittmeier; great grandchildren, John Barton, Jake Barton, Josh Barton, Norrie White, Will White, Jack White, Vance McCarty, Robby McCarty, and Seth McCarty; sisters-in-law, Jane Mays and Goldie McCarty; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive friends 12:00-2:00 PM Saturday, November 17, 2018, at Bridges Funeral Home with the funeral service at 2:00 PM with Rev. Dana Fachman and Dr. Doug White officiating. The interment at Asbury Cemetery will immediately follow the service.
