Gertrude E. McElroy, 89, of Belle Plaine, IA, passed away Nov. 10, 2018 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, IA.

Graveside services are 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 15, 2018 at Rector Cemetery in Chelsea, IA with Russ Spading officiating.
Memorials may be directed to the family.

Gertrude was born August 31, 1929 to Orie and Rose (Klink) Beck. She attended school near Chelsea, IA.

Following school Gertrude married Marvel McElroy August 31, 1947.

Together the couple lived in Belle Plaine. Gertrude worked at the Cabinet café and Community Café until beginning her carrier with Funk Seed which she retired after 27 years of service.

She enjoyed spending her time playing bingo, doing word puzzles, crocheting, going to the casino, and driving around the countryside remembering of times past.
She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and Belle Plaine American Legion Auxiliary.

Gertrude is survived by her children, Rex McElroy of Beaman, IA, Pat Jacobs of Belle Plaine, JoAnn Williams of CO; 3 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; siblings, Martha Strong and Albert Beck both of Belle Plaine; and many more nieces, nephews, family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marvel; siblings, Louise Jacobi, Charles Beck, Dale Beck, John Beck, Nathan Beck.
