Donald "Don" Eugene Allen, 86, of Greenville, Ohio departed this life on Thursday, November 08, 2018 in Greenville.

Don was born in Franklin, Ohio on April 9, 1932 and was the son of the late Tilford and Sarah (Gill) Allen.

In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his brothers, Thomas, Milford, Clarence, Arthur, and Paul Allen; his sisters, Dorothy Hitte and Irene Elam; and his step-daughter Terri Spinks.

He is survived by his wife, Pauline "Polly" (Wellbaum) Allen; his daughter, Cynthia (Ted) Karsh of San Diego, California; his sons, Jeff (Janet) Allen of Homestead, Florida, and Tom (Tracy) Allen of Cottonwood, California; his step-daughter, Chris (Steve) Christ of Arcanum, Ohio; and his step-son, Kyle (Tina) McLanahan of Arcanum; 9 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; his brother, Floyd Allen of Melbourne, Florida; and many nieces and nephews.

Don was a 1951 graduate of Carlisle High School, in Carlisle, Ohio. He attended college at Sinclair Community College in Dayton, Ohio where he studied engineering and drafting. Don was a Korean War Veteran serving in the U.S. Army. He was employed by Dayton Power & Light for over 43 years. Don lived in Miamisburg, Ohio, then Melbourne, Florida, and has most recently been a resident of Brookdale Assisted Living in Greenville.

Don will be most remembered for his positive, optimistic attitude and friendly personality. He loved the outdoors, fishing, boating, and nature. He was very proud of his military service to his country. He loved great piano music, a good game of chess, woodworking handicrafts, watching a good baseball or golf game on TV, and loved to travel and see America. Don also loved God very much and came to know Him as his personal Savior later in his life.

A Celebration of Don's life with take place at Tribute Funeral Homes, Greenville Campus, at the convenience of the family.

A graveside memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Florida Memorial Gardens in Rockledge, Florida.

The Allen family would also like to especially thank the kind staff at Brookdale Assisted Living and State of the Heart Hospice of Greenville for their kindness and care of our father.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the State of the Heart Hospice, 1350 N Broadway St., Greenville, OH 45331
