David Louis Brehmer, of Oshkosh, 89, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 9, 2018, at Parkview Health Center of Oshkosh. He was born on February 12, 1929 in Neenah, WI, son of the late Meta Hankemeier.
David left Hortonville High in 1945 to run the family farm. After selling the family farm he went to work at Brillion Iron Works and then to Gilbert Paper in Menasha. He married his wife, Donna, on August 14, 1954. David and Donna enjoyed dancing, and he was the president of the Roger Bright Dance Club. They went on a two-week European vacation and a Caribbean Cruise with the band. David ended his career with the Neenah Joint School District working as a cabinet maker and locksmith and retired in April 1986. David and Donna had three children of their own Jody, Jill and Jay and several foster children, one of which became a permanent member of the family, Kim.
David was a member of St. Andrews Lutheran Church in Oshkosh. He was involved with the food pantry and served on several committees. David enjoyed wood-working, gardening, painting and telling really bad jokes whenever he had the chance.
David was preceded in death by his wife and his brothers and sisters.
David will be warmly remembered and sadly missed by his son, Jay (Mary) Brehmer; daughters, Jill (Dave) Neumann, Jody Brehmer, and Kim Brehmer; grandchildren, Tim (Meghan) Snow, Ori (Mark) Ramsey, Brandon Redlin, Jessica (Nate) Ott, Danielle (Dante) Davis, Elissa Heidke, Matthew (Meagan) Brehmer, Joshua (Chea) Brehmer; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Family and friends are welcome at St. Andrews Lutheran Church at 1100 E Murdock Ave., Oshkosh from 9:00 am to 11:00 am with the service to follow on Tuesday, November 13, 2018.
