Forrest J. Motts, 98, a resident of Hubbard Hill Estates, died Dec. 8, 2004 in Elkhart General Hospital. He was born July 3, 1906, in Elkhart County to Jacob and Sylvia (Schmeltz) Motts. On Aug. 10, 1933, he married Pauline E. Pletcher. She died in 1996. He married Lucille (Selner) Stickel on May 5, 2001. She survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Sharon (Tom) Wilmore of Hinsdale, Ill., and Janet (Joe) Laws of Wright City, Mo.; a son, David Motts of Elkhart; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; 11 stepgrandchildren; 12 great-stepgrandchildren; two stepsons, Larry (Marti) Stickel of Illinois and Donald (Diane) Stickel of Michigan; two brothers, Clyde (Jenny) Motts of Mishawaka and George Motts of Los Angeles; and a sister, Grace Hill of Mishawaka. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Motts; a stepson, James Stickel; a stepdaughter, Carolyn Pennington; and a brother, Raymond Motts. Burial will be in Olive Cemetery. Mr. Motts, a 1925 graduate of Jimtown High School, retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 40 years as a letter carrier. He also was a farmer, worked for Miles Laboratories for 16 years and owned Jimtown Garage for 25 years. He was a member of Jamestown United Methodist Church.
