Irene passed peacefully away at home with a dear friend Debbie Bendig at her side on August 5.
She is survived by Sandra Sterling, Jim Thomas, Marlene and Jacques Chatain, Cleo and Victor Sartar, Elaine Nepstad and Peter Nepstad.

Born on December 20, 1905 in Veblen, South Dakota, USA, passed away at the Royal Jubilee Hospital, Victoria, B.C. on January 7, 1997.

He will be sadly missed by his wife, Irene, of 54 years; his brother, Leonard (Marie) of Kelowna, B.B.; his sisters-in-law, Lucille Sterling of Edmonton, and Clara Nepstad of Hythe; as well as numerous nieces and nephews in B.C., Alberta and the USA; also valued friends in all the places he resided.

He was a graduate of Camrose Lutheran College, Victoria High School, Edmonton, and the University of Alberta. He taught school in the Camrose, Hythe and Clyde areas and finally in the Edmonton Public School system for many years. After moving to Victoria, he became an ardent sport fisherman and excellent golfer. He also travelled and cruised to various locations. Ed's enjoyment of meeting people and making new friends was his gift and will be missed by all who knew him.

Service of Remembrance will be held at James Bay United Church, 511 Michigan Street on Friday, January 10, 1997 at 2:00 p.m., with the Rev. D. Hume officiating. Tributes, if desired, may be made to the Greater Victoria Hospitals Foundation, 841 Fairfield Road, Victoria, B.C. V8V 3B6. (Edmonton Journal).
