George D. Bartlett, one of the oldest settlers in Greenwood County, Kansas, died Tuesday December, 04, 1900, in Eureka, Ks. George was living with his daughter, Mrs. Hessin.
George had been ill for months. Interment was made in the Homer Creek Cemetery.
Mr. Bartlett located on Homer Creek about 35 years before his death and had lived in this county almost constantly. He was twice married and leaves a wife and several children.

George's first wife, Arabelle Dennet Bartlett, died March 21, 1876 at their home on Homer Creek. She was buried in Homer Creek Cemetery. George remarried to a woman named Alice J. Robb in November, 1876.

The Homer Creek Cemetery is also know as the Utopia Cemetery and the Worley Cemetery.

1880 census records show George and Alice living in Janesville township in Greenwood Co. Listed are 6 children and a nephew living in the residence. Mattie 18 yrs., Frank 12 yrs., Ida 10 yrs., Clara 7 yrs., Freddie 5 yrs., Ethelind 2 yrs., and the nephew, Chas. Nudd, 11 yrs of age.

1900 census shows 3 children in the home but in Eureka. Roy A. 19 yrs., Laura 15 yrs., and Alta 13 yrs of age.
