Funeral services for Wanda Giddings Baker, “The Dew Drop Lady”, 63, of Fairview Alpha, LA will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, November 8, 2018 at Rockett-Nettles Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Marvin “Blackie” Burkett officiating and Bro. Olan McLaren assisting. Interment will be held at Baker Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00 – 9:00 P.M., Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at the funeral home.
Mrs. Baker was born August 3, 1955 in Shreveport, LA and passed away November 6, 2018 in Shreveport, LA. Wanda was the rock of her family, tough as nails, and endured many hardships; but she never lost her faith in our Lord and Savior. Not only was Wanda known as “The Dew Drop Lady”, she was also known as “Aunt Wanda” to everyone. She loved her family and will be dearly missed by all those who knew her and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her father, Lonnie Giddings, Sr.; her mother, Myrtle Giddings; one granddaughter, Jodie Leeann Baker; two brothers, Jimmy Giddings and Howard Giddings; two sisters, Sue Davis and Maggie Jordan; and two brothers-in-law, Robert Wood and David Cloud.
Left to cherish her memories are her husband, Brooks Baker; son, Brooks R. Baker; two daughters, Tina Durr and husband, Jeff and Lisa Baker; four brothers, Marvin Burkett and wife, Peggy, Lonnie Giddings and wife, Brenda, Johnny Giddings and wife, Ginger and Rodney Burkett and wife, Carolyn; four sisters, Sarah Scott and husband, Bobby, Janice Brown and husband, Gurt, Annie “Dinky” Wood, and Shelia Sonnier and husband, Bryan; two sisters-in-law, Norma Giddings and Karen Giddings; brother-in-law, Jerry Jordan, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and the whole community of Fairview Alpha.
Pallbearers will be Jiggs Wood, Kerry “Porky” Baker, Tim Holman, Larry Litton, Ernie Litton, James Giddings, Johnny Ray Giddings, and Kenny Davis. Honorary pallbearers will be Kade Mangham, Howard “Peanut” Giddings, Jr., Robert Giddings, Floyd Williams, and Arthur Nealy.
