Dorothy L. Shope, 86, of Washington Township, died Monday, Oct. 16, 2006, in Alle-Kiski Medical Center, Natrona Heights. She was born Jan. 22, 1920, in Vandergrift to the late George and Ella (Hazlett) Akins, lived in the Kiski Valley all of her life, was a homemaker and a beautician and enjoyed crossword puzzles and playing cards. Also predeceased by her husband, Raymond Shope, in 1991; an infant son; her brothers, Veryl, Arthur, Mervin and Harry Akins; sisters Florence Long, Lydia George and Ruth Lukehart, and two infant grandsons. Surviving are son Fred (Vicki) Shope, of Kiski Township; sisters Jean (Robert) Domiano, of Vandergrift, and Retha Cohlhepp, of Port Vue; three grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the CURRAN-SHAFFER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., 100 Owens View Ave., Apollo, where services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. Gary Lyon officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Apollo.
