2nd Husband Lynn Bowen

Obituary taken from Syracuse Post Standard (Syracuse, New York) March 30, 2016
Bev Bowen, 89, of Port Byron went home to her Heavenly Father on Easter Sunday, March 27, 2016. She was born Mary 27, 1926 in Lafayette to the late Kenneth and Doris Downing. Bev attended Lafayette High School but left to pursue her dream of becoming a Beautician. She graduated as a teenager from Beaux Art School of Beauty Culture in Syracuse. In a family twist, her parents decided to "follow" in their daughter's footsteps and graduated from the same school. Her life was full and as she would tell you she was rich. Mom always said it isn't money or material things that count but the love of your family and friends. She was VERY rich indeed. She was a loving and devoted Mom, Nana, Gramma and Aunt. She was always happiest cooking for her family or even herself which she did until her passing. Her biggest joy came from being with her family and friends. Bev was predeceased by her husbands, Lewis Wilcox and Lynn Bowen; a sister, Georgia Abbott; a brother, Kenneth Downing Jr., and a "Son" in-law, David Winkworth. She is survived by her four loving children, Marla Winkworth, Kenneth (Cheryl) Wilcox, Dori Barrigar Ryder and husband, Jim, and Bev (Don) Holmes Jr.; 14 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and "adopted" grandchildren. Bev has also left behind several dear friends whose friendships she cherished. We will all miss this beautiful lady but there are so many wonderful memories to help fill the void left by her passing. We take comfort in knowing she is at peace now and surrounded by her loved ones in Heaven. Calling hours will be noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 2nd at the Bush Funeral Home. 120 E. Main St. (Rt. 5), Elbridge. A Celebration of Life will follow at 3 p.m.. Burial will be private at later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, 116 John St. 30th Floor, New York, N.Y. 10038 in honor of her niece Debra LaPorte Morgan or to the Wounded Warrior Project at Woundedwarriorsproject.org
