Services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday at Starbuck Funeral Home Chapel with Reverends Paul Billiet and Jimmy Griffith officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park in Abilene, directed by Starbuck Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Jim was born August 8, 1915 in Atwell to James W. and Mattie Lena Adcock Adams. He married Margaret Reese and she preceded him in death 1951. He married Ossie Vickers and she preceded him in death April 18, 1994. He married Ruth Christ on March 3, 1997. Jim was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Abilene. He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a farmer and rancher and worked in the oilfield for many years. Jim also worked for the Texas Dept. of Transportation for 14 years, retiring in 1982. He loved camping, fishing, gospel singing and helping others. Jim shared his love and wisdom with his sons.
Survivors include his wife Ruth Adams of Abilene; 5 sons, Kenneth Wavell Stamps and wife Rosario of Odessa, Richard Adams and wife Bette of Spring, Freddie Adams and wife Bunny of Odessa, Floyd Adams and wife Peggy of De Soto, Louie Adams and wife Margaret of Merkel; a brother, Harold Adams and wife Billie of Waco; a sister, Hazel Sears and husband Russ of Annapolis, MD; 14 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary; 2 sons, Donnie and Eddie; a step-son, David; a brother, S. R.; and a sister, Altus
