Leroy V. Anderle, age 87, of Windthorst, Texas passed away Saturday, November 3, 2018, in a Wichita Falls hospital.
Vigil service and rosary will be held at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 7, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Windthorst with Rev. Michael Moloney, O.F.S. Parochial Administrator of St. Mary’s and St. Boniface Catholic Church, officiating. Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, November 8, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Archer City.
Leroy was born December 7, 1930 to the late Eugene Anderle and Ethel Wachsmann Anderle in Windthorst. He graduated from Windthorst High School.
He married the love of his life of sixty-six years, Caroline Veitenheimer, on September 18, 1952 in Windthorst.
Leroy honorably served his country from 1953 until 1955 in the United States Army. After his tour of duty, he returned to Windthorst and worked various jobs until he was employed at Berend Brothers where he worked for thirty-six years and retired in 1995.
Leroy was a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church where he served as Lector and Eucharistic Minister. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus for sixty-nine years where he held many offices and for thirty-nine of those years, he was a 4th Degree member. He also was a member of the Scotland-Windthorst, VFW Post # 2676.
He enjoyed fishing, when the fish were biting, gardening, traveling and spending time with his kids and grandkids. In the later years, he loved sitting on the front porch drinking coffee with his sweetie.
Survivors include his wife, Caroline; four sons and their wives, Roy (Cathy), Richard (Sharon), Jerry (Marsha) and Terry (Sharon); six daughters and their husbands, Dorothy (Mike) Holmes, Karen (Danny) Ferguson, Lois Jean (Jerry) Wilde, Debbie (Mick) Riley, Tracy (James) Ferguson, and Valerie McGrath; four brothers and their wives, Charles (Edna), Eugene (Mabel), Johnny (Annette) and Lester (Florence); two sisters and their husbands, Alberta (Vernon) Badgett, and Pat (James) Zotz; sister-in-law, Shirley Anderle; twenty-three grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his brother Orville; brother-in-law, Otto Schroeder, and a granddaughter.
