William D. "Bill" Achterhof, age 72, beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away March 29, 2007 in Winterhaven, FL. He was born October 11, 1934 in Muskegon, MI. He married Elaine denDulk on August 20, 1955 and she survives. He is also survived by daughter, Myra (Roger) Phillips of North Baltimore, OH; son, Vance of Medina, OH; brothers, Jack (Ellie) of Bella Vista, AR; Paul (Doris) of Jenison, MI, Robert "Bob" of Grand Rapids, MI, James "Jim" Jenison, MI; and sister, Arlyn (Jerry) Batts of Jenison, MI. 4 grandchildren, Michael and Mandy Phillips, Nicholas, and Julia Achterhof, and 4 great-grandchildren, Michael, Janice, Keith, and Landon Phillips. Preceding him in passing are his parents, John and Tena; and sister, Ruth. Bill served the community of North Muskegon as a police officer for 38 years, 10 of those as chief. He was a member of the FOP Lodge, and Orchard View Congregational Church and enjoyed fishing, hunting, wood carving, and was a certified shuffle board player. According to his wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association.
