Fielder was the son of Eliel Wilson and Nellie Rebecca Brady Armiger. He was a mechanic for Prince George's County.

Surviving are his wife, Evelyn Marshall Armiger and seven children, Brenda, Ginger, Robin, Teresa, Kelley, Fielder Jr. and Joseph. Also surviving is his father and sister VIrginia Dove.
