JOHN OLIVER PEABODY 9 (John,8 John,7 David,6 John,5 David,4 John,3 Francis,2 John1) was born July 4, 1845, in Lockport, New York. He married first, June 23, 1873, Helen M. Galloway, born in 1853 in Pontiac, Michigan. He married second, Mollie Dean Hudnutt. He enlisted in August 1862 as a corporal in Co. B, One-hundred-thirty-seventh Pennsylvania Volunteers and re enlisted in Washington as an orderly sergeant in Gen. Meiggs' guard. He was reported to have been present in Ford Theater when President Abraham Lincoln was assassinated. After the war, he settled in Michigan, where he earned a living as a merchant. He died Feb. 5, 1916, in Hanover, Michigan.Child:
