Born in Missouri where her parents had been raised, two year old Elizabeth accompanied her parents to north Texas to live near distant cousins. Her brother John was born in Sherman. After a few years the family returned to Missouri. I like to think they traveled on the new "Katy" railroad that went from Missouri, Kansas, Indian Territory and Texas.
After her mother Nancy died from illness at only age 41, Lizzie (age 23) married recently-widowed 58 year old John Jerome Page on April 26, 1897 in Versailles, Missouri. Their three children were: Monta Belle (b. Sept. 1897), Albert (b. Jan 1900), and Roy Jerome (b. 1902). Young Albert died before 1910. Siblings Roy and Monta later moved to California with their spouses and families.
My mother told me that her Great-Aunt Lizzie was petite and slender, with dark hair and complexion, and an amiable personality. Mom's younger sister Nancy--then a child, remembers having great fun with Aunt Lizzie when she came to visit some time during the years of World War II. She had visited once with her son Roy's grandchildren. Roy and wife Lola were living in Solano County then. Sadly, the two families lost contact with each other, and we only recently learned that Lizzie had spent her last decade in Los Angeles. If only her niece Helen and nephew John had known this, as they lived in nearby Long Beach. Aunt Lizzie, we often wondered about you and your family! --Sandy
