YAKIMA - Jewell E. Wilson, 82, of Yakima, passed away on Tuesday, May 15, 2007 at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital.

He was born on Feb. 12, 1925 in Arapaho, CO to Charles and Lilly Wilson. In 1928, the family moved to South Dakota and then to Oregon in 1936, settling in Yakima in 1950. He attended college in Caldwell, ID and served in the U.S. Army during WW II.

Jewell worked in sales in the insurance business and for refrigeration companies. He was best known as an inventor, inventing shelving for convenience store and had several ideas for refrigeration and travel trailers.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara of Yakima; daughter, Tina Lewis and husband Mike; granddaughters Melinda and Melissa and one great-granddaughter. he is also survived by step-daughter, Barbara Hiles and her husband, Gil; step-son, Jim Shafer; a brother, Charles and his wife Grace; a sister, Nadeen Elliot and her husband Ken; a brother, Jimmy and his wife Barbara and 10 nephews and 6 nieces.

Jewell was preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Wilson; his sister, Beulah May Jacobsen and her husband Henny and a sister LillyRodgers.

Graveside services will beheld at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, May 18, 2007 at Terrace Heights Memorial Park. Those wishing to attend should meet at the cemetery.
