Well, being up here reminds me of , standing up in front of the English class and reciting a passage from the Ancient Mariner, (1954) you know Water, Water Everywhere, and not a drop to drink
Just a few words about Bob, Wayne, Janice and Myself, when we were, Kids, growing up. I being the oldest always doing my thing, Like sneaking off , and going swimming in the stock tank, and there was always these two guys following me around everywhere the smallest being Bob. When we was always playing Hide and Seek and have him be it and run off from him, so he wouldn't follow us around Kind of like you know Mikie will eat it. I guess we were like all sibling in this manner. I at time wasn't very nice to Bob., but that was just growing up.
Well as I got older I got interested in other things, Like girls, you know they were kind of interesting then. And by this time he could follow my other brother around. .And I didn't have to put up with him. As time went on I joined the AF and got married. By this time he got pay back, some of the things, that had happened to him when he was small, because now he had this little girl following him around, Named Janice.
Needless to say things were changing. Me serving 4 yrs Air Force, Wayne in college and Bob finishing HS. And this little girl Haven't figured out where she came from, ANYWAY,
Bob had started some College courses (1962), I was working for a TI a defense Contractor (1964). Being on the inside I knew what jobs were open. Bob was hired in as a Quality Control Tech. After a while, Bob started a work school training project at TI, working half day and school half a day and getting paid full time. The company needed Mechanical Eng.'s and to get the best they would train their own. Bob qualified for the course and started a long process of studying over quit a few years. All the math courses Geometry, Calculus and other high math courses, I can't even pronounce. Learning, theory, of how different metals react to various climatic's, to read precision measuring tools. Well eventually Bob graduated with a a Mechanical Eng Degree., from SMU.
Even if he did have to use one of those antique calculators, called a slide ruler. DEFINITION of Mechanical being, the art of using various tools for designing specific parts. The science of mechanics. Engineering , the sciences concerned with putting scientific knowledge to practical use.
You know like putting an egg in a package and dropping it off a 10 story building and not breaking it. We kind of would like the grocery packer learn this trade.
I believe that's kind of a required problem solving test for a group of students.. Even today. This same principal applies to Electronic hardware, Missiles parts that have to survive extreme environments.. Bob worked on the infrared detector of the TOW anti-tank Missile and redesigned the PWR supply for the Tomahawk missile. Its kind of like you have a cup and you have to put a baseball in it. You get the picture.
Well, Bob was a good Mechanicall Engineer. If you knew him He was always putting that training to work. When you design things, you have to lay it out on paper, you have all these drawing with lines, angles and measurements. Well, Bob was always measuring out the right time, to pull out a one of his one liner joke s or one line comment and I sure he had some angle to put on someone anytime.
Bob was real knowable of the Bible and read to the grandchildren quit a bit. When they would sit still. HE did get his point across about the Bible Teachings. Martha has just found some of his notes and writings among his papers about the Bible and others things, with relation to the God and the Bible.
Bob was always there for everone, even myself. I came down with Acute Myelogenous Leukemia and with only a 60% chance of surviving with a Bone Morrow Transplant ( Stem Cell). Dr's start looking for a match with the siblings. Well, Bob was the perfect match, then Wayne, and then Janice she didn't make it, she was cut from the list. She was little upset that she didn,t make the list The Dr's decide on Wayne's stem cells, because of Bob's health problems from an earlier aneurysm and I didn't won't to put more stress on him. My blood type changed to Wayne's blood type, which surprised us and some nurses. So, I kind of glad that Janice didn't qualify. I don't know what would of happened. Maybe a little more hair.
Bob if I could think of one of your good jokes. I would share it. But I can't ever remember Jokes.
